When God goes BIG!
This year our family had planned and financed for a year to take a ski trip to the mountains in Gatlinburg TN. Well....the Colon family usually has "stuff" going on but nothing like we experienced this time. We packed our van to the hill with four kids, a dog and practically everything we could think of to take to a cabin for a week. We left early.....made it all the way to the Brewton exit (77!) and the van died....right there on the freeway! What? Yeah...that's what we said....very sombered and confused by this unusual dilema we calmly did what you do.....we called Geico to tow us! lol After a bit of waiting we were towed to a local car dealership in the area who told us within 10 minutes our van needed a new engine and it would cost only $6,000 plus dollars to fix! Not a good way to start your vacation. My poor husband was SO distraut. In the meantime I had already told the kids that we needed to pray....I then went into the waiting room and asked them again....we prayed. Fortunate for us our neighbor here in Pace is from Brewton and called her parents to rescue us from the dealership. We did not want to do anything rash so we were brought back home. It took two vehicles to get us and all the stuff home. Our hearts sank at the thought of no vacation so we called every car rental co. known to man....you can't rent anything with four wheels the day after Christmas. During this time a friend was here helping us in our distress. Before we knew it she had come up with and decided we were taking her Chevy Silvarado to TN! A friend loves at all times....but, please your truck? Yes, you heard it we went on vacation in her nice big truck. While there we came to find out "why" things happened like they did. The van would not have made it up that mountain for one...and of all the places for it to break down (people were in place to help). The entire week our motto was "You go, God!!!" All of the kids would just shout it out at different times when they would each think of God's provision. It was absolutely the most wonderful, yet educational trip we have ever taken...one I know we will remember!! You go, GOD! Oh yes and we were able to buy another van which was also a miracle!
